Swim bladder problems are a common topic in fishkeeping, and many aquarists ask whether feeding peas can help support digestion and buoyancy in fish. In this video, we explore the connection between fish diet, digestion, and swim bladder health, explain when peas may be used, and discuss why a balanced, species-appropriate fish food is essential for long-term wellbeing. You’ll also learn how correct feeding habits can support normal digestion, reduce digestive issues, and promote healthy, active fish. Whether you keep goldfish, tropical fish, or ornamental fish, understanding nutrition is a key part of responsible aquarium care. At Tetra, we’re committed to helping fishkeepers make informed decisions that support healthy fish and clear aquarium water.

We use for example spirulina and shrimp meal as natural colourants and tocopherols as antioxidants.

We use soy and wheat gluten.

Improved feed conversion rates show that the food can be metabolized well and this leads to less excretion as more nutrients are retained in the fish body.

These are mainly Beta-Glucan and MOS coming from the yeast.

We have not changed the basic principle here, the familiar mechanisms of action have been retained.

Fishoil and fishmeal are main sources of PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids). Lipids are the main energy source in fish diets and in addition are the source of essential fatty acids that fish cannot synthesize themselves. Dietary fatty acids are incorporated into biomembranes and play a critical role in maintaining the structural and functional integrity, thus they and are essential for various metabolic processes. In addition, PUFAs are required as precursors for the production of signaling molecules playing an important role in the immune response.

In the Nutri - evolution formulations we use Inulin (known as Fructo Oligosaccharide (FOS)) in the formulations without yeast and in all other formulations which includes yeast, we use this special Version of yeast, which contain high quality of Mannan-oligosaccharides (MOS) and β-glucans. The addition of prebiotics leads to healthy growth, less waste and clear water.

In general, there is no difference, however, protection from sunlight in NE formulas is even more important because of the natural food colouration that fades quickly under UV radiation.

As in previous years, we use carotenoids for the colouring of the fish to intensify the red components in the main fish. We just no longer use artificial carotenoids. We use krill, shrimps, paprika oil and, above all, algae.

The fishmeal replacement was made in the feed for garden pond fish. Carp-like fish are found in the ponds here. For these species, fish meal can be replaced with vegetable protein. We have integrated a special soya protein concentrate in combination with a vital wheat gluten into the formulation.
In contrast to carnivorous fish, there is no known negative change in the foregut and rectum of carp-like fish. The comparison of fish fed with a fishmeal-based diet and fish fed with the above-mentioned plant-protein combination showed no differences in the histological examinations of the foregut and rectum of the respective feeding groups. Since the feed ratios were comparable to better in the feeding group with the vegetable protein, it is demonstrated that this feed is nutritionally at the same high level as a fishmeal-based feed for the carp-like fish species.

No difference.

No, they aren't.

Yes, they have IFS certificate.

Palatability is always part of the feeding test. So yes, we tested palatability and the new NE formula was just as well accepted as the old one.

It's simply not necessary. Pond fish might eat small insects and worms living in the Pond or falling into the water. Furthermore it is our contribution to more sustainability.
